The Off-The-Clock Suit

Go on, wear a suit on the weekends.

To be clear, I’m not asking you to suddenly start dressing like Tom Ford. However, wearing a suit off-the-clock is a great way to upgrade your personal style.

The least stuffy way to wear a suit over the weekend is to roll up your pants (inch or inch and a half), roll up your sleeves and pair your suit with a casual graphic tee, clean sporty sneakers and, if the weather asks for it, a pair of sunglasses. It’s that simple. It’s not quite the kind of suited look I’d suggest wearing to a job interview, but it’s unquestionably an upgrade from the usual t-shirt and jean combo most guys favor.

An alternative would be to lose the blazer and swap it for a denim jacket. An outfit like this is a sign that pushing your style forward doesn’t mean abandoning who you are. Just because the man wants to put on a suit sometimes doesn’t mean he can’t do it on his own terms. That’s about as solid a style lesson as any I know of.

I hope this post inspires you to wear your suits any of the seven days of the week. If you have any questions about suits, how to style them, where to buy them or questions about any other looks on the blog, you can ask me anything in the comment box below.
