How To Wear A Turtleneck With A Suit

Relax into the cold by swapping your shirt and tie for a cozy turtleneck.

This is a great time to rethink your winter essentials and think of turtlenecks as one of your basics. With a nostalgic nod to vintage suits and the understated elegance of a caramel turtleneck, this suave combination easily elevates style staples from standby to standout.

Yes, turtlenecks can be a little intimidating, but go to any proper men’s store and try one on. See if you don’t feel a little smarter (in every sense of the word). You can wear one with a suit, but if that feels too risky, a denim jacket will do the trick.

I wore my turtleneck with a plaid jacket, a pair of maroon trousers and black lace-ups, but it could have just as easily been chinos and chukkas or jeans and loafers. A good turtleneck does all of the work for you. Seriously, where have they been all our lives?

No matter how many times you hear the term “sweater weather”, the urge to actually wear one doesn’t come on until the weather finally turns gray and damp. And then you remember why sweaters exist.

The thing that makes nice sweaters so valuable (nice turtlenecks in particular) is that they give you the sensation of being wrapped in a blanket but the appearance of someone who never sleeps in. They also make you feel like you’re wearing a proper outfit in a way that a T-shirt or a sweatshirt could not.
