The Perfect Biker Jacket

While shopping at Champs-Élysées in Paris last Fall, I made the mistake of going to the Saint Laurent boutique and trying on a leather biker jacket.

It wasn’t only versatile and timeless, it was a sartorial embodiment of rock ‘n’ roll. Unbeatably cool. The fit was perfect. Of course it was, it’s Saint Laurent. The jacket was out of my price range and sadly I came home without it. I have since been on a mission to find a staple leather jacket to lend a tough-luxe attitude to my wardrobe.

A few months later this Levi’s Made & Crafted jacket came down on me like a prayer sent from above. It’s made in Italy and crafted from genuine calf skin leather, and it mixes classic moto detailing with contemporary design. It’s supple and robust and the quilted shoulders make it a staple piece with edge. It’s exactly what I was looking for. The best part is this Levi’s biker jacket came in at $900, which is about one third of the price of the Saint Laurent. Score!

The moral of the story is don’t set your heart on things that are out of your price range. There will be options aplenty (especially in fashion) that will fit your budget. You don’t have to break the bank to channel Mr James Dean’s rebellious cool, all you need is a little research. Find the right one for you and you too can add some tough-luxe attitude to your wardrobe this Fall. Throw it over a loose-fit shirt or a printed tee to cement a sharp look.

What I’m wearing: Levi’s Made & Crafted leather biker jacket, thrifted tank, Zara trousers, Richer Poorer socks, Nike Air Max 90 sneakers, Christian Paul watch, Ray-Ban sunglasses
