Cool menswear article about me on Field Of Foxes. Thanks Mary Alice for the lovely interview.
Reinaldo Irizarry has been a big inspiration to me for a long time now, and I finally decided it was time that I feature him. That way everyone can enjoy the menswear inspiration I see from every look Reinaldo posts. Again, this is for you men out there who claim that there is no variation in menswear. Read More »

For those of you that don’t recognize him immediately, Robert Verdi is a New York staple, known for his TV work on Full Frontal Fashion, Surprise by Design, and a little movie called The Devil Wears Prada. Verdi is also a highly sought-out personal stylist for celebrity clients like Eva Longoria, Hugh Jackman, and Kathy Griffin. This self-made machine has his hands on everything posh and his name is synonymous with all-things style.
Some people say they are fashionably late just to say it, while others actually live by it. Let’s take Robert Verdi for example, who was 20 minutes late to our scheduled interview. He walks in, making an entrance as the casual fab-god that he is wearing designer denim jeans with an intricate pattern shirt, a navy jacket, his signature sunglasses on his head, and an eye-catching “look at me” diamond encrusted necklace. It was so worth the wait. Although he doesn’t visit San Diego often, he obviously loves looking fabulous when he does.
Reinaldo Irizarry: How did you break into fashion? Did the industry select you?
Robert Verdi: It did select me. I was featured in a cover story in The New York Times’ Style Section on a Sunday in 1998 and a regional cable channel called me and asked me to come on as a guest. They kept bringing me back and ultimately asked me to host a regional home design show called Metro Home. This all happened in a really short window of time, probably a ten-week period. Then I became interested in the industry and then, I guess, it expanded.
What’s your favorite dressing philosophy aka rules you dress by?
Your style defines your character; it’s okay if one day you want to be preppy and the next day you want to be punk rock. Fashion is about having fun, about dressing up and changing characters. The most important part, regardless of how you dress, is to always stay true to your personality.
