This weekend my friends and I hit up the fashionable launch of the Eiman Hamza Collection at Fred Segal in Santa Monica. The afternoon of champagne was sweetened with mini cupcakes (I can’t ever have just one) and serenaded with live music by the band American Primitive — and of course great fashion. Duh!
Eiman Hamza is bringing a fresh new approach to womenswear with her signature collection. It offers comfortable silhouettes made of airy fabrics, bold but not obtrusive colors, and quirky-slash-preppy details like collars on dresses with pleated skirts, bows and lace headbands. The two main colors of the collection that stood out to me were tangerine and mint, which remind me of a delicious swirl of peach and pistachio sorbet. Who wouldn’t love it? Exactly!
The line also has a bit of a sporty kick, which is ideal for the active girl who likes to be stylish even if she’s breaking a sweat. All-in-all, a collection well conceptualized, designed, and executed. Kudos!

Rochambeau is one of the five featured labels of W Hotels’ seasonal Fashion Next — a program that fosters and supports emerging designers during fashion week and beyond.
The menswear collection had a bit of a pilgrim-esque feel and featured suits, vests, coats, hats and really amazing leather accessories. The palette was black for the most part with a hint of maroon. In fact, my absolute favorite look was a maroon suit which was paired with a black collar shirt and black leather boots. I need this look in my life!
I also obsessed over a wool coat with leather sleeves and a leather vest that was paired with an oversized maroon cardigan.
This collection was made for the gentlemen that doesn’t follow the pack. The one that doesn’t need for a membership card in his pocket or thinks about subscribing to the norm. It is playful, yet sophisticated. The effortless Ankar Sweden men wears colors and is never overdressed, yet he’s always admired. His keen sense of style is classic, intoxicating, and cool.
Niklas, the designer, described the collection as a ‘love letter’ to men’s fashion. Packed with expertly tailored shirts and sleek trousers, colorful separates in the form of cashmere sweaters and tartan morning coats. An exquisite collection. I want it all!
The designer presented her new collection with the art that inspired each dress hanging above each model. The music set the tone and the art/models the visuals. All-in-all the dresses were not to die for, but the presentation was very well executed.
I stopped by Saks Fifth Avenue for the unveiling of Nicholas Kirkwood’s Spring 2012 collection.
For those that have never been to Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, the store doesn’t just have an entire floor of shoes—it has an express elevator to it! The minute I heard the *ding* of the elevator and the door panels slid open, my eyes just gleamed. It was like I had died and gone to shoe heaven.
The collection was spectacular to say the least. It offers a shoe for every woman — from modern art slingbacks, to pop art kitten-heel mules. The designer was inspired by the florals and tropical brights from a trip he took to Bali.
“I came back wanting to do something more colorful and a little softer than before.”
Mr. Kirkwood himself was in attendance answering questions and signing shoes and shoe sketches for a line of well-heeled ladies sipping fine champagne.
Pay it safe. Designer condoms.
