Don’t be afraid of a little velvet, and by little, I mean only your jacket should be velvet. The fabric is appealing in a jacket because its weight creates structure and its sheen adds a festive touch. Try colored velvet (like gray, forest green or burgundy) and anchor the look with either black trousers — or if you’re feeling bold — colored jeans and a bow tie.

This fitted navy blazer is my “go to” slash wear-with-everything jacket. It’s dressy, it’s casual, it’s flexible and game for anything. I love a full suit but not as much as I love a suit jacket with jeans. Of course there’s a rule to this pairing — your jeans have to be fitted the way your suit trousers would be. The best part of this combo is that you can mix & match into all sorts of combinations. I can wear this navy blazer with a pin dot shirt and a tie like I did here, or simply over a plain T-shirt and jeans.

PS: Roll up the sleeves of your blazer like you would with a shirt to give your look a more relax and casual feel.

Hillary Kerr of WhoWhatWear Katherine Power of WhoWhatWear LEMON DROPS!! BE BRIGHT

Out & About

Styld.by GAP and WhoWhatWear

Last night my friend Chelsea and I hit up The Grove to celebrate the launch of Styld.by, a digital experience from GAP featuring Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power of WhoWhatWear. We were greeted at the door with lemon drops. LEMON DROPS! Seriously, how could you not have a good time if you’re greeted with, yes again, lemon drops. Maybe you can’t tell how much I like this drink, but whatever.

This Styld.by movement has brought in some of the biggest online fashion influencers to style looks from the GAP’s new BE BRIGHT collections including folks from Refinery29, MOG, Lookbook.nu, FabSugar, Rue, and WhoWhatWear. So it’s no surprise that the invite encouraged attendees to come styled in their favorite brights and show off their unique way of wearing color.

I love wearing color so this isn’t new territory to me. I brought out a pair of white shorts and paired them with a red-orange blazer over a long-sleeve teal collar shirt accessorized with my thick-frame Tom Ford glasses and my leopard Penelope and Coco oxfords.

The party wasn’t just colors and lemon drops, they also had a funky nail art bar and DJ Jilly Hendrix on the ones and twos spinning the tunes. Such a fun night.

Penelope and Coco: New Arrivals

One of my favorite shoe lines has a new collection and it’s amazing to say the least. Yummy peachy colors for the Spring, awesome cut-outs for the Summer, and height for days…. for the bitchyness of course.

You’ve seen me wear Penelope and Coco shoes on my blog. I wore their leopard oxfords on this look.

Check them out and let me know what you think of their new collection.

Happy Feet!
