Hotel Couture

Take a fast-paced, first-class joy ride through the world of lavish and luxury vacations by some of the world’s biggest and most influential fashion designers.

by Reinaldo Irizarry

Besides presumably impressive walk-in closets, what do Donatella Versace, Christian Lacroix, Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, and Oscar de la Renta have in common? They’ve all entered the hospitality arena and have conquered a completely different aspect of design.

From the whimsical styles of French designer Christian Lacroix, to the classic lines of designer Ralph Lauren, and the extravagance of Donatella Versace, REYAL FASHION takes you inside the fabulous rooms designed by these fashionistas for a taste of their take on self-indulgent leisure time. Welcome to Hotel Couture, where five-star is par for the course, custom-made is a given and VIP treatment is nonstop. Dropping a hundred grand? That’s chump change.

For many of these designers getting into visuals that break down to balance, color, texture and structure is more than just “making a statement.” It’s about designing a space that contributes to how fabulous one feels in it. Fusion of new and old elements is a recurring motif with fashion designers who often give classic and sophisticated silhouettes a whole new twist. The design of a hotel by a fashion house can act as a live-in portfolio and marketing tool. It is a great way of expressing the designer’s philosophy and the lifestyle they see behind their brand.

Modern classic designers such as Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta convey the spirit of fashion by immersing you in a casual version of their couture elegance in each room. Meanwhile, Donatella Versace covers her guests from floor to ceiling in glamorous and luxurious linens, rugs, and toiletries from the Versace Dreamer Collection, which can also be purchased on the premises at the Versace boutique.

Red Carpet Fashion Review

Stacy Keibler at 2012 Oscars
Dress: Marchesa
Jewelry: Lorraine Schwartz
Clutch: Judith Leiber
Clooney’s tuxedo: Giorgio Armani
Sure George Clooney is up for an Oscar tonight, but I think he wanted to send a message by bringing his own human trophy. Stacy is a beautiful woman, and sure she’d look stunning in a dress made of a trash bag, but this Marchesa is beyond. It’s got all the glitz, all the glamour and all the elegance of “a Marchesa”. Amazing!

Rihanna at 2012 Grammys
Dress: Giorgio Armani
Jewelry: Neil Lane
Body necklaces: Jacquie Aiche
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Clutch: Jimmy Choo
The Barbadian singer was serving demure bombshell in this custom Armani dress. This is no typical LBD (Little Black Dress) — the gold accessories it was paired with were the perfect match. I love the soft makeup with the muted lip and the thick eyeliner. The look doesn’t scream sex, it whispers it. Without a doubt one of my favorites on the red carpet tonight.

Adele at 2012 Grammys
Dress: Giorgio Armani
Jewelry: Harry Winston
This was obviously a HUGE year for the multi-nominated singer on so many levels and was one of my most anticipated on the red carpet. She did not disappoint. If one thing I learned about Adele over the years is that she does things her way, and with that being said, she has not changed to fit fashion…she’s changed fashion to fit her. This custom Armani gown suits her so perfectly and that red lip is her stamp of fearlessness.
