DKNY Men’s Fall/Winter 2012

Immediately after the IFB Conference, I headed straight to Hell’s Kitchen for the DKNY Men’s F/W 12 presentation where the setting was synonymous with classy — the lights of the Empire State Building & the New Yorker Hotel served as the backdrop to a rather desirable collection.

Every group had a different vibe. The DKNY Tailored Clothing featured exquisitely fitted suits and topcoats in primarily black and gray, and all the guys wore sunglasses with a cool 90’s vibe — reviving the era of the well-dressed gentlemen.

An army of fitted-capped men stood at “attention” for the DKNY MEN Sportswear collection, which featured nylon blazers, puffy vests and a navy leather varsity jacket which is a must-have. My absolute favorite piece in the whole entire collection.

Finally, the pureDKNY collection presented a “cooler” and more relaxed vibe with shearling coats, colored chinos and sweaters. The color palette was much lighter compared to the rest.

The night was closed by a live performance by electro-pop band, Holy Ghost.

Leather and lace? Hell yeah! I’m usually all over it. Keyword: usually. This isn’t one of those times. Unfortunately there’s nothing about this look that I like. It looks like a little girl’s dress. If, as a stylist, I had to make this dress work I would’ve gone with smoky makeup, a sexier shoe, a slicked back hair and no clutch. But the most important part, I would’ve made sure my client owned it and Ashley didn’t own it and therefore, she’s in my Worst Dressed list for tonight’s look.
