Cooper Presents: Made in L.A.
Last night the Cooper Design Space and L.A. Canvas kicked off LA Fashion Market with cocktails, bites, and Made in L.A. installations curated by some of LA’s finest bloggers and designers.
Five of LA’s top bloggers, were paired with five Los Angeles-based designers, and assigned a different part of L.A. as the inspiration for each installation:
Malibu
Blogger: Le Catch x Designer: Trina Turk
Venice/Santa Monica
Blogger: The Smoking Nuns x Designer: Veronica M
Silverlake/Los Feliz
Blogger: Some Notes on Napkins x Designer: Odylyne
West Hollywood
Blogger: The Denim Guy x Designer: Big Star
Downtown
Blogger: Reyal Fashion (that’s me!) x Designer: Robert Rodriguez
The event — presented by NoSubject — celebrated fashion companies who produce and manufacture in Los Angeles. During the opening ceremony, Mayor Villaraigosa revealed the winning logo design for the Designed/Made in Los Angeles initiative. The logo was created by Youth Monument’s art director, Colby Long, and will be available for LA-based clothing and jewelry lines to use on printed and woven garment tags and on their websites.
I had so much fun working with a brand as incredible as Robert Rodriguez. I’ve always admired his work and I hope my installation did his collection justice. If you’re in Downtown Los Angeles be sure to stop by the Cooper Design Space this week to check out all the fantastic installations in the lobby of the building.
