The day has finally come for me to share what I’ve been working on for so long.
I wrote a book!!!! — and it comes out next month!!!!
Last year while embarking on a national tour with JoJo, Joe Jonas, and Jay Sean I started thinking of what I could do to spread what I’ve learned in my years of styling further than just my blog. And of course, my creative gears started turning.
I thought of doing a mini web-series where I would do makeovers and provide styling advice. Then I thought of designing an iPhone app to help readers shop. Finally, I thought of writing a book. (*ding*ding*)
Without much hesitation, I started to brainstorm what the book would be about and how it would stand out amongst the masses of women’s fashion and style books. Then it hit me. It’s not a women’s book I should be thinking about…it’s a men’s book! Because while I’ve been working with female clients for over six years, I’ve been dressing myself for over twenty six. And then it began.
I wrote the majority of the book on a moving tour bus for 3 months. Upon conclusion of the tour I returned to Los Angeles and got right to work. Now, a year later, my baby is born and I can’t wait to share it with all of you. After all, you’re the reason I do this.
What is the book about?
With this book I took more of a helpful how-to approach, rather than a mandatory must-do and I created a series of building blocks where with each chapter you read, you will build on the knowledge gained from the previous ones. In the process of writing this book I didn’t interrogate any designers, attack any showrooms, or hawk-eye any runway shows, because to me, there’s no cookie-cutter approach to style. So I put my emphasis on practical and manageable advice over purely trend ones, because I don’t want to style you or dictate trends; I simply want to give you the tools to create and express your own style.
When/Where can I buy it?
Style Protocol: A Style Guide Engineered for Modern Men will be available on November 13 through most major book retail outlets including Lulu (my publishing company), Barnes & Noble and Amazon. It will also be available in ebook for the iPad’s iBookstore, Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble’s Nook.
More to come. Stay tuned.
